Markku Virtanen

HR & Business Consultant

After several decades in various kind of national and global HR positions, I just started my own company Actlike. The central themes in my professional career have been innovation, transformation, fast growth/reduction/moves, and smarter ways of working.  Most changes I’ve worked with being driven new technologies and new markets, but sometimes also by trendy value imperatives or organizational design fashions.

   

In HR, I keep a realistic and practical mindset. I act using data-driven, fact-based, and project-oriented approach. Experience makes me believe in instrumental enacted values over fancy espoused ones. During automotive crises, when stable markets suddenly crashed, keeping fast yet professional manners in downsizing and layoff tasks proved themselves. For me the original metrics and view on engagement makes sense even without skewing  them to promoter scores. Migrating only verified HR master data is the key to hassle-free HRM implementations. Lean principles rule also outside manufacturing. Global footprint is your true tutor to DEI.    

 

I work with fluent professional Swedish, Finnish, English. Available for mobility and international travel. Compatible also with academic, R&D and innovation work cultures. IT knowledgeable, able to read code and benefit from UX, Use Cases and agile oriented software development methods.  


Professional experience from academics, telecom, professional education, automotive, paper and materials industry, retail, and industrial services.  Worked with HR items, employee relations and central labour agreements in several countries (SE, FI, NO, DE, UK, FR, USA, AUS, IN, etc).
